Road Safety Assistant
Project Overview
-
This project aims to enhance road safety by preventing accidents caused by hazardous conditions such as black ice, children’s school zones, and pedestrian accident-prone areas. The Traffic Safety Assistant App combines real-time data with advanced alert systems to guide drivers and ensure their awareness in high-risk areas.
-
Built using Android Studio for optimal integration with Google services such as Maps API.
Features user-friendly interfaces with real-time location and hazard notifications
Google Maps API for location tracking.
Web scraping techniques for live weather data acquisition.
Condition-based logic for customized warnings depending on area-specific risks.
-
Black Ice Prevention:
Utilizes location data and weather conditions (temperature and humidity) to identify and alert drivers when entering black ice-prone areas.
Sends warnings when specific conditions (temperature ≤ 0°C and humidity ≥ 80%) are met.
Children’s School Zone Safety:
Focuses on times with high accident rates (e.g., school dismissal hours: 2 PM to 6 PM).
Alerts drivers entering school zones during these high-risk times.
Pedestrian Accident Prevention:
Integrates pedestrian accident-prone zones into its system using data from traffic safety maps.
Provides audio-visual alerts when drivers approach these areas.
